Marsdens Feeds benefits from parent company ForFarmers’ sustainability approach, with sustainably sourced ingredients high up the agenda.
Involved with the development of FEFAC1 Soy Sourcing guidelines which encourages main-stream market transition to responsible soya, ForFarmers is also a member of Round Table on Responsible Soy and the UK Roundtable on Sustainable Soya.
Jamie Horner, sales manager at Marsdens, says: “Within Marsdens feeds, 100% of the soya bean meal is sourced from responsible soya schemes which meet the FEFAC Guidelines.
“None of the soy used is produced in converted natural ecosystems like natural forest, native grasslands, wetlands, swamps, peatlands, savannas, steep slopes and riparian areas after a specific cut-off date. This goes beyond minimum sourcing requirements to include zero deforestation and conversion. ForFarmers is committed to continually enhancing its soya certification.”
The majority of the Marsdens range is formulated with SalmonPro and Fishmeal, providing game birds with an unparalleled source of protein and nutrients, taking bird performance to the next level.
A by-product of the British fish industry, these fish-derived ingredients are always sustainably sourced, says Jamie.
Fishmeal is a by-product from the human food industry, from fish caught locally, in English waters (wild). This by-product called ‘fish frames’ are heated and dried in a plant in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire.
Jamie says: “Not only is fishmeal packed with nutrients which mimic the game bird’s natural food, but it is a rich source of key amino acids, the building blocks of protein. The unique source of other key nutrients including oils and minerals to help support the bird’s growth.”
